Surf FAQs
Yes. Surf sessions usually book out about 2 months in advance, so we strongly recommend reserving online. Walk-ins are not guaranteed.
Pricing varies by wave type and time of year:
- Beginner Sessions: ~$129–159 + tax per person/hour
- Intermediate Sessions: ~$149–179 + tax per person/hour
- Advanced Sessions: ~$159–189 + tax per person/hour
- Private Sessions: ~$2,200–3,500 + tax per hour

We release space-available/public sessions 4–6 weeks before the month. Follow us on social for drop announcements.
No. Sharing/splitting public surf sessions is not allowed for safety reasons and to protect wave counts for paying guests. If you want to swap in and out with friends, book a private session.
Yes. We have a rotating fleet of soft tops and fiberglass boards:
- Performance boards: $45 + tax first session, then $20 + tax per additional session (same day)
- Soft tops / second-tier shortboards: $29 + tax first session, then $14 + tax per additional session (same day)
Optional board insurance is $45 + tax. You’ll complete a Surfboard Rental Agreement on site.
- Beginner Sessions: Soft-top boards only (for safety). Rental soft tops are included in the session price.
- Intermediate & Advanced Sessions: We recommend boards under 8 ft due to pool depth. Hard boards and soft tops are allowed; soft tops are available to rent.
- The Coaster (Beginner): Gentle, rolling wave with whitewater and small face waves—perfect for learning to stand and ride. Soft-top rental included; coaches in the water.
- The Runner (Intermediate): Lined-up faces, 3-wave sets with different sections for carving and speed. Board rental not included.
- The Peak (Advanced): Steeper takeoffs, punchy sections, and multiple wave options to push your surfing. Board rental not included.
- Arrive 20 minutes early if you’ve been here before and 1 hour early if it’s your first time.
- If you’re running late, email info@wacosurf.com ASAP.
- If you’re more than 10 minutes late and haven’t contacted us, we may cancel your spot. Missed sessions are not eligible for refunds, credits, or rebooks.
Water temp changes with the weather. Historic ranges (approx.):
- Mar–Apr: 45–65°F
- Apr–May: 60–75°F
- May–Jun: 75–85°F
- Jun–Jul: 80–90°F
- Aug–Sep: 75–90°F
- Sep–Oct: 65–80°F
- Oct–Nov: 60–75°F
- Nov–Dec: 45–65°F
Yes – in the front (non-wave) area only, up to the curved concrete ridge.
Swimming is not permitted in the wave zone. State law requires everyone in the surf lagoon to have a flotation device that supports their weight. If you’re filming or accompanying someone, you’ll need a USCG-certified life jacket (available on site).
- SUPs: Not permitted in public sessions. In rare cases, they may be approved for private sessions with prior staff approval.
- Foils: Not allowed under any circumstances.
No. Drones are not permitted anywhere on property (surf lagoon, waterpark, lodging, etc.) due to FAA regulations. If you’d like aerial content, you can hire our in-house photo/video team.
No. Dogs are not allowed in the surf lagoon or beach area. They are allowed on leash near Lemur Lagoon and some lodging areas – see our full pet policy for details.
