OFFICIAL RULES
REEF x WACO SURF ULTIMATE SURF TRIP CONTEST
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. SPONSOR AND PRIZE PROVIDER
The REEF x Waco Surf Ultimate Surf Trip Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by Reef Lifestyle LLC d/b/a “REEF” (“Sponsor”) in partnership with Lemur Island Holdings, LLC dba Waco Surf (“Prize Provider”) (Sponsor and Prize Provider referred to collectively as the “Contest Parties”).
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years of age, or the age of majority in their state or territory of residence (whichever is older), at the time of entry.
Employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of Reef Lifestyle LLC and Waco Surf, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and marketing and promotional agencies (collectively, the “Contest Entities”), and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) and household members of each such employee, officer, director, agent, and representative, are not eligible to enter or win.
This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
By entering, each entrant represents and warrants that they satisfy all eligibility requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
3. CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest begins on July 8, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on July 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT (the “Contest Period”). Sponsor’s computer or recordkeeping system is the official timekeeping device for the Contest. Entries received, attempted, or completed outside the Contest Period, for any reason, will be void and will not be considered.
4. HOW TO ENTER
During the Contest Period, eligible entrants must complete both of the following steps:
- Follow @reef and @wacosurf_tx on Instagram; and
- Post a comment on the official Contest post published by @wacosurf_tx on Instagram explaining, in the entrant’s own original words, why the entrant deserves to win the Ultimate Surf Trip experience (each, an “Entry”).
Limit one (1) Entry per person, per Instagram account, and per household for the duration of the Contest Period, regardless of the number of Instagram accounts an entrant may have access to or control. Multiple comments from the same entrant will not increase that entrant’s chances of winning, and the Contest Entities reserve the right to consider only the first qualifying comment submitted by any individual or honor only one entry per person, in its sole discretion.
Entries must be the entrant’s own original work, must not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party, and must not contain content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, hateful, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate or objectionable, as determined by the Contest Entities in their sole and absolute discretion. The Contest Entities reserve the right to remove, reject, or disqualify any Entry that violates these Official Rules or that the Contest Entities otherwise deem inappropriate, at any time and without notice.
Use of any automated, robotic, macro, programmed, or similar entry method, and any attempt to enter using multiple identities, accounts, or devices, is prohibited and will result in disqualification. The Contest Entities reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant it believes has tampered with the entry process or violated these Official Rules.
Normal Instagram data and message rates may apply, and entrants are responsible for any such charges imposed by their mobile carrier or internet service provider.
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win the Contest.
5. JUDGING CRITERIA
One (1) potential winner will be selected based on the quality of their Entry. All eligible Entries will be evaluated by the panel of judges described in Section 6 below using the following weighted criteria:
- Originality and creativity of the Entry (40%)
- Compelling nature of the entrant’s story (40%)
- Alignment with the spirit of surfing, adventure, and the REEF and Waco Surf brands (20%)
The eligible Entry receiving the highest aggregate score, as determined by the judges in their sole discretion, will be deemed the potential winner. In the event of a tie, the tied Entry with the highest score in the “Compelling Nature of the Story” category will be selected as the potential winner; if a tie persists, the Contest Entities will select the potential winner from among the tied entrants by random drawing.
The Contest Entities reserve the right to disqualify any Entry that does not comply with these Official Rules or that, in the Contest Entities’ sole judgment, is inconsistent with the values, reputation, or brand standards of any Contest Entity.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.
6. JUDGING PANEL
Entries will be reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives of the Sponsor’s marketing team and Waco Surf. All judging decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest.
7. PRIZE
One (1) winner will receive the following prize package for themselves and one (1) guest (the “Prize”):
- Three (3) day / two (2) night stay at Waco Surf – Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $458
- Eight (8) surf sessions – ARV: $1,352
- Complimentary surfboard rentals – ARV: $120
- Access to the Waco Surf water park and lazy river – ARV: $258
- REEF footwear for winner and guest – ARV: maximum of $250.
Total ARV of the Prize package is: $2,188 – $2,438 [depending on value of footwear prize]
All costs and expenses not expressly identified above as included in the Prize package, including without limitation airfare and other transportation to and from Waco, Texas, ground transportation, meals, gratuities, travel insurance, incidental hotel charges, and all other personal expenses, are the sole responsibility of the winner and guest.
The Prize is awarded “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The Prize is non-transferable and may not be assigned, and no substitution of the Prize is permitted, except that the Contest Entities’ reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to substitute a prize or prize component of comparable or greater value, or to award the Prize’s ARV in cash, if the advertised Prize or any component becomes unavailable for any reason.
The winner is solely responsible for any and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes associated with acceptance and use of the Prize. If the total ARV of the Prize awarded to a winner is $600 or more, Sponsor may issue a Form 1099 reflecting that value to the winner and to the applicable tax authorities, and the winner may be required to provide a completed Form W-9 prior to award of the Prize.
8. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
The potential winner will be selected on or about July 16, 2026.
The potential winner will be notified by direct message from the @wacosurf_tx Instagram account and may also be announced by a reply comment on the official Contest post. The potential winner must respond to the initial notification within seventy-two (72) hours of the first notification attempt.
If a potential winner: (a) cannot be reached or does not respond within the required time period; (b) is found to be ineligible; (c) has not complied with these Official Rules; (d) declines the Prize; or (e) fails to timely return any required documentation, that potential winner will be disqualified, and the Contest Entities reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible Entries with the next-highest score, time-permitting, or to not award the Prize.
The Contest Entities reserve the right to verify eligibility and to review the Entry of any entrant, including verification of identity, age, and place of residency, at any time. The Contest Entities may require the potential winner to execute and return, within the time period specified by the Contest Entities, an affidavit of eligibility, liability release, and publicity release (collectively, the “Winner Documents”) as a condition of receiving the Prize. If the potential winner fails to return the Winner Documents within the required time period, or if the Winner Documents are returned undeliverable, the potential winner may be disqualified, and an alternate winner may be selected in accordance with this Section 8.
9. TRAVEL AND SCHEDULING RESTRICTIONS
Travel redemption deadlines, availability requirements, blackout dates, and other scheduling restrictions will be determined by the Contest Entities and communicated to the winner prior to Prize redemption. Blackout dates for 2026 currently include October 5–11, November 25–26, and December 24–25; additional blackout dates may apply and will be communicated to the winner.
Trip dates are subject to availability and must be coordinated directly with Waco Surf. The Prize must be redeemed by the deadline communicated to the winner. If the winner is unable or unwilling to travel during the available redemption period, or fails to redeem the Prize by the applicable deadline, the Prize will be forfeited in its entirety, with no compensation or substitution of any kind.
Winner’s guest must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, or the age of majority in their state or territory of residence, and may be required to execute a liability release and publicity release, in a form acceptable to the Contest Entities, prior to participating in any Prize-related activity. The Contest Entities reserve the right to deny participation to any guest who has not executed such releases.
10. PUBLICITY RELEASE
Except where prohibited by law, entrant’s acceptance of a Prize constitutes that entrant’s consent for the Contest Entities and their respective designees to use the winner’s and guest’s name, Instagram handle, likeness, image, voice, hometown, biographical information, submitted Entry, and statements regarding the Contest for advertising, marketing, publicity, and promotional purposes in any media now known or later developed, worldwide, in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notice, review, or approval, except where prohibited by law.
11. ENTRY CONTENT LICENSE
By submitting an Entry, entrant represents and warrants that the Entry is the entrant’s own original creation, does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party, and complies with these Official Rules and the Instagram Terms of Use. Entrant grants to the Contest Entities a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, irrevocable, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, publish, display, perform, edit, modify, translate, distribute, create derivative works from, and otherwise exploit the Entry, in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed, for promotional, advertising, marketing, editorial, archival, or other commercial purposes, without additional compensation, notice, or approval, except where prohibited by law.
The Contest Entities may publish, repost, feature, display, or otherwise publicize any Entry, including the winning Entry, on social media channels, websites, email campaigns, advertisements, and other marketing materials, and entrant waives any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written copy, that may be used in connection with such use.
12. GENERAL CONDITIONS
The Contest Entities reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the Contest, or any portion of it, if fraud, technical failures, unauthorized human intervention, or any other factor beyond the Contest Entities’ reasonable control impairs the integrity, security, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by the Contest Entities in their sole discretion. In such event, the Contest Entities reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to select the potential winner from among all eligible, non-suspect Entries received as of the date of the impairment, using the judging criteria described above.
The Contest Entities reserve the right to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrant, Contest Entity, or third party.
The Contest Entities are not responsible for: (a) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors, or by any equipment or programming associated with or used in the Contest; (b) technical failures of any kind, including malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines, network hardware, or software; (c) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (d) technical or human error that may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of Entries; or (e) any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer or mobile device relating to or resulting from participation in the Contest.
This Contest is offered only in the United States and shall be construed and evaluated according to United States and California law.
13. RELEASE AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating in the Contest, each entrant releases, discharges, and holds harmless the Contest Entities, Instagram, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) of any kind arising out of or relating to: (a) entrant’s participation in the Contest; (b) entrant’s acceptance, use, or misuse of any Prize, or any travel or activity related to the Prize; and (c) any technical errors related to the Contest, in each case to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF INCOME, PROFITS, GOODWILL, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM AN ENTRANT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST OR ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE, OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE CONTEST EXCEED THE TOTAL ARV OF THE PRIZE.
14. DISPUTE RESOLUTION; CLASS ACTION WAIVER
Entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the state or federal courts located in California; (b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
15. INSTAGRAM DISCLAIMER
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Entrants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Contest Entities and not to Instagram, and entrants release Instagram from any and all liability arising from this Contest.
16. PRIVACY
Information collected from entrants is subject to the Contest Entities’ respective privacy policies (the “Privacy Policies”), available on their official websites, and will be used by the Contest Entities and their agents to administer the Contest and as otherwise described in these Official Rules and the Privacy Policies.
17. GOVERNING LAW
These Official Rules, and any dispute arising from or relating to the Contest, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
