Surf FAQs
Yes. Surf sessions usually book out about 2 months in advance, so we strongly recommend reserving online. Walk-ins are not guaranteed.
Pricing varies by wave type and time of year:
- Beginner Sessions: ~$129–159 + tax per person/hour
- Intermediate Sessions: ~$149–179 + tax per person/hour
- Advanced Sessions: ~$159–189 + tax per person/hour
- Private Sessions: ~$2,200–3,500 + tax per hour
Exact pricing depends on date, time, and availability.
We release space-available/public sessions 4–6 weeks before the month. Follow us on social for drop announcements.
No. Sharing/splitting public surf sessions is not allowed for safety reasons and to protect wave counts for paying guests. If you want to swap in and out with friends, book a private session.
Yes. We have a rotating fleet of soft tops and fiberglass boards:
- Performance boards: $45 + tax first session, then $20 + tax per additional session (same day)
- Soft tops / second-tier shortboards: $29 + tax first session, then $14 + tax per additional session (same day)
Optional board insurance is $45 + tax. You’ll complete a Surfboard Rental Agreement on site.
- Beginner Sessions: Soft-top boards only (for safety). Rental soft tops are included in the session price.
- Intermediate & Advanced Sessions: We recommend boards under 8 ft due to pool depth. Hard boards and soft tops are allowed; soft tops are available to rent.
- The Coaster (Beginner): Gentle, rolling wave with whitewater and small face waves—perfect for learning to stand and ride. Soft-top rental included; coaches in the water.
- The Runner (Intermediate): Lined-up faces, 3-wave sets with different sections for carving and speed. Board rental not included.
- The Peak (Advanced): Steeper takeoffs, punchy sections, and multiple wave options to push your surfing. Board rental not included.
- Arrive 20 minutes early if you’ve been here before and 1 hour early if it’s your first time.
- If you’re running late, email info@wacosurf.com ASAP.
- If you’re more than 10 minutes late and haven’t contacted us, we may cancel your spot. Missed sessions are not eligible for refunds, credits, or rebooks.
Water temp changes with the weather. Historic ranges (approx.):
- Mar–Apr: 45–65°F
- Apr–May: 60–75°F
- May–Jun: 75–85°F
- Jun–Jul: 80–90°F
- Aug–Sep: 75–90°F
- Sep–Oct: 65–80°F
- Oct–Nov: 60–75°F
- Nov–Dec: 45–65°F
Yes – in the front (non-wave) area only, up to the curved concrete ridge.
Swimming is not permitted in the wave zone. State law requires everyone in the surf lagoon to have a flotation device that supports their weight. If you’re filming or accompanying someone, you’ll need a USCG-certified life jacket (available on site).
- SUPs: Not permitted in public sessions. In rare cases, they may be approved for private sessions with prior staff approval.
- Foils: Not allowed under any circumstances.
No. Drones are not permitted anywhere on property (surf lagoon, waterpark, lodging, etc.) due to FAA regulations. If you’d like aerial content, you can hire our in-house photo/video team.
No. Dogs are not allowed in the surf lagoon or beach area. They are allowed on leash near Lemur Lagoon and some lodging areas – see our full pet policy for details.

Surf & Beach FAQs
Yes. They can purchase a Surfer Companion Beach Pass, hang on the beach, play games, relax in a cabana, or swim in the lagoon (in the swim zone).
- Surf / Beach side: No BYOB. Alcohol is sold at the Dive Bar, Star Bar, and Saloon. You’ll need your ID swiped to join our (free) private club to purchase drinks.
- Water Park side: BYOB allowed (beer/seltzer only, no glass).
Drinks cannot cross the bridge between the surf/beach side and the water park.
You can bring:
- Coolers with snacks & non-alcoholic drinks
- Life jackets for kids (we also provide them)
- Umbrellas & tents (must use bases/weights, no poles into the sand)
- Reusable water bottles
- Your own surfboard or bodyboard
- Skateboards, rollerblades, skates, bikes, one wheels, scooters
You cannot bring:
- Your own alcohol
- Anything made of glass
- Pets (except properly marked service dogs, not allowed on the beach or in the water)
- Grills or BBQs
- Bad attitudes 😉
No specific age limit, but all surfers must be proficient swimmers.
- Free life jackets are available.
- We offer packages if you’d like to surf with your child.
Yes. Beach cabanas can be booked under the Activities tab on our website.
- BYOB is not permitted on the surf/beach side.
- Beach Club Cabanas include 6 Beach Club Passes (up to 10 people max; extra passes available on site).
- Beginner sessions: Soft-top boards only (rental soft tops included). No hard boards allowed.
- Intermediate & Advanced: We recommend boards 8 ft and under due to shallow areas. Soft tops are available to rent.
Yes, in the front swim area (up to the curved concrete ridge).
- No swimming in the wave zone.
- State law requires a flotation device that supports your weight (no body surfing, hand planes, wompers, etc.).
- If you’re filming/assisting in a private session, you’ll need a USCG-certified life jacket (available to borrow).
Yes, but do not put poles directly into the sand—this can damage the liner.
- Use bases or weights to secure tents/umbrellas.
- Umbrella rentals are available on site if you don’t want to bring your own.
- SUPs: Not permitted in public sessions. They may be considered case-by-case for private sessions with prior staff approval.
- Foils: Not permitted under any circumstances (they will be damaged by the lagoon bottom).
- No dogs are allowed in the surf lagoon, beach area, or waterpark attractions.
- Dogs are allowed on leash near Lemur Lagoon.
- One dog is permitted per cabin (pet fee applies).
- No dogs are allowed in the Waco Surf Hotel or houses.
Please pick up after your dog—lots of barefoot guests!
- Service animals are not allowed in any bodies of water due to health regulations.
- Staff may ask ADA-approved questions about the work the service animal is trained to do.
- Emotional support/comfort animals are not considered service animals under the ADA.

- Resort credits and timelines follow the posted policy.
Yes. Gift cards can be purchased online or by emailing info@wacosurf.com.
Gift Cards:
- No expiration for Waco Surf bookings (not valid for on-site food/retail).
- One-time use only (if a booking is canceled, the card cannot be reused).
- Non-refundable.
Standard Resort Credits:
- Expire 12 months from issue.
- One-time use only; non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Cannot be used for retail, merchandise, or food & beverage.
Our water is treated with a three-phase system:
- Disk filtration
- Media filtration
- Ozone + chlorine
Let’s just say: it’s proprietary…and way more advanced than “a guy named Reef with a bodyboard in the corner.” 😉

We operate rain or shine, and all sales are final.
If there is lightning within 10 miles:
- Guests are asked to vacate the water.
- For surf sessions: we start a lightning delay and push the schedule back. If the delay exceeds ~30 minutes, we will cancel the affected session and issue Resort Credits.
- For water park guests: if we cannot safely reopen, the park will close and Standard Resort Credits will be issued.
If surf is canceled by the resort for any reason, a Surf Resort Credit valid for 12 months will be issued. Travel costs are not reimbursed.
Water Park FAQs
You can bring:
- Coolers with food & drinks (no glass)
- Gas BBQs/grills (water park side only; none on surf/beach side)
- Chairs, canopies, tents
- Beach trolley
- Valid physical ID (if drinking or purchasing alcohol)
- Tubes for the Lazy River under 55″ (we also provide tubes and cooler tubes for rent)
- Your own USCG-approved life jacket
You cannot bring:
- Glass of any kind (including jars)
- Weapons (including kitchen knives)
- Digital/paper/expired IDs (physical only)
- Bad vibes or hostile behavior
Note: BYOB is only allowed on the water park side, not the surf/beach side.
The water park (Wedge Slides + Lazy River) operates seasonally, typically from early May to mid-September.
- Last Lazy River entry: 1 hour before park close
- Last crossing to the beach area: 30 minutes before park close

Current pricing is listed on the Water Park section of the site.
No, you can buy tickets on site, but:
- Pre-purchasing tickets and signing your digital waiver before arrival saves time (and sometimes money).
- Wedge Slides: Minimum 44″ tall; life jackets required for all.
- Lazy River: No age restriction; all children under 52″ must wear a life jacket.
Guests under 16 must have a legal guardian on site; guardians must sign waivers for minors.
No. The Activity Pass includes both the Lazy River and Wedge Slides for the day.
Yes. All guests must be on a tube for the duration of the float.
We provide inner tubes with headrests and cup holders free of charge, and cooler tubes are available to rent.
We have a zero-tolerance policy.
If anyone in your group is found underage drinking, the entire group will be asked to leave and escorted off property.
Waco Surf is located in a dry county, which means:
- Surf / Beach side (Dive Bar, Star Bar, Saloon):
- No BYOB.
- To buy cocktails and drinks from us, you’ll need to have your valid physical ID swiped and quickly join our private club (it’s free and takes just a minute).
- Water Park side (slides & Lazy River):
- BYOB is allowed for beer and seltzers only (no glass).
- We can only sell beers/seltzers on this side due to licensing.
- Crossing between areas:
- Drinks from the beach/surf side cannot cross the bridge to the Water Park, and vice versa.

Most guests bring a waterproof pouch for phone, ID, card, and keys. Travel light!
Yes. We offer 10% off Water Park Passes for active and veteran military with valid ID.
These tickets must be purchased on site.
No dogs are allowed in the water park, surf lagoon, or beach areas.
Dogs are allowed on leash near Lemur Lagoon and in cabins (1 dog per cabin, pet fee applies). No dogs in hotel rooms or houses.
- Service animals are permitted in most public areas of the property, but not in any bodies of water due to health regulations.
- Staff may ask the two ADA-approved questions:
- Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
- What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
- Staff cannot ask for documentation, require the dog to demonstrate its task, or ask about the person’s disability.
- Emotional support or comfort animals are not considered service animals under the ADA and are subject to the regular pet rules.

Yes. Just like the surf lagoon, the water is filtered with disk filtration, media filtration, ozone, and chlorine.
- Yes: Propane or gas grills/BBQs are allowed on the Water Park side (The Wetlands).
- No: Grills of any kind on the surf side; no charcoal anywhere.
Yes, coolers are welcome at the Water Park with snacks, drinks, and alcohol (no glass).
We also rent cooler tubes so your cooler can float with you on the Lazy River.
No. Beach access is not included by default but can be added online or on site.
Remember:
- Water park side = BYOB allowed, no glass
- Beach side = no BYOB
- Back lot: Free
- VIP parking (front, peak season): $20/day
Same as surf:
- We follow National Weather Service lightning guidelines.
- If storms prevent safe operations, the park may close and Standard Resort Credits will be issued according to policy.

Lodging FAQs
All lodging units include a mandatory $20 nightly resort fee (included in the listed rate). This covers parking, WiFi, in-room amenities, and beach access for your stay.
Yes! Several food and drink outlets are available, with seasonal hours that vary throughout the year.
Yes. You can book the Waco Surf Hotel, Cabins, Surf Houses, RV spots, and now our Lake House and Road House directly on our website.
For all lodging cancellations, please refer to our official 2026 Waco Surf Lodging Cancellation Policy.
In general:
- Individual bookings: Refunds are issued only for cancellations made by 3:00 PM CT, two calendar days before arrival.
- Stay & Surf Packages follow the Stay & Surf cancellation policy.
- Cabins: 1 dog permitted per cabin with an additional pet fee.
- Hotel & Surf Houses: No dogs allowed.
- Around the property: Dogs allowed on leash near Lemur Lagoon.
- Not allowed: Surf lagoon, beach area, water park, or any bodies of water.
Pet owners must pick up after their animals.
Service animals are not permitted in any bodies of water due to health regulations.
Staff may ask ADA-approved questions:
- Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
- What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
Staff cannot request documentation or inquire about your disability.
Emotional support animals are not considered service animals under the ADA.
If a service animal is out of control and the handler does not correct the behavior, staff may request its removal.
Water Park passes are not included, but lodging guests receive 50% off Water Park passes when purchased on site.
All lodging guests receive complimentary Beach Passes.

No. All lodging is strictly non-smoking. Any evidence of smoking results in a $350 fee charged to the card on file.

You may pitch a tent next to your RV or camper van. RV spots do not include standalone amenities needed for tent camping.

Reservations may be canceled or charged if this requirement is not met.
- Guests are responsible for all damage or missing items during their stay.
- Furniture may not be moved or taken outside.
- Lost keys incur a $25 fee.
- Waco Surf is not responsible for lost or stolen items, though we do our best to return found belongings.
